La Montagne Sauvage-CM Ranch-Carmel Valley

This blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre grown on the Chesebro family property indeed reflects the wild mountains, with aromas of black pepper, white pepper, lilac, wisteria, lavender oil, elderberry, cola and Dr Pepper on the lively nose. Root beer pops on the palate along with boysenberry, charcoal, tar and black pepper. It’s vibrant and delicious. - Matt Kettman, Wine Enthusiast Magazine December 2016.

Exceptional - Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences - 10/7/2016

This is a simply astounding cooler-climate red wine that exhibits traces of black pepper (rotundone), violets, wild cherry, and hints of plum. The texture is perfect, so the wine pairs well with meat dishes, notably stews. Wines of this kind come along remarkably rarely, and in this case it is so well-balanced with good acidity that it will improve for a few years in the cellar. Not to be missed. Probably best ordered direct from the winery.

La Montagne Sauvage-CM Ranch-Carmel Valley Wine Information

This is a proprietary named Rhone style blend based primarily on Syrah with varying additions of Grenache and Mourvedre. It is grown at 1500 feet in the mountains of Carmel Valley on our home ranch. Formerly labeled as Syrah, we changed the name to acknowledge the fact that it has always been a blend of grape varieties. They are harvested and fermented together to enhance the balance and complexity of this long lived wine.
